  • DR report (written by future manager David Meiklejohn) has a strange reference: “the introduction of Sharp gave the necessary strength to the Thistle vanguard”. According to the OH Sharp wasn't playing. In any case, he had played in the previous 14 games so why the word “introduction”? Is there any evidence substitutes may have been an experimental feature of wartime football we wonder?
