DR Report has a strange comment: “Newman, Thistle's centre-forward, was easily recognised”. We think this is something to do with Alex's wartime ID's often being psudeonyms; best to leave the brace credit with Alex Younger.

“Brave Thistle” (DR). The loss of centre-half Sutherland for most of the first half didn't prevent Younger from giving Thistle the lead (9). A penalty (23) drew things level then Clyde (who generally lacked ideas, went ahead (52) but a 2nd from Younger (78) ensured the points were deservedly shared.
