The skill and energy of youngsters Husband and Sharp were prominent as Thistle exploited weaknesses in the Airdrie defence. Airdrie opened the scoring with a fierce drive but Picken equalised then Sharp and Wallace (with a pen) gave Thistle a 2-goal lead at half-time. Airdrie got their 2nd in the second half.
