Thistle took a deserved 2-goal lead through Linton then McKennan (a brilliant solo run) but Ayr tightened up and Stewart's OG spurred them on before half-time. By the hour mark they had scored twice (both headers). McKennan and McSpadyen were best but their contribution wasn't enough.
