Two well-taken goals by the half hour set Rovers up although McKennan's penalty for a harmless hand ball offence gave Thistle hope. It was exciting end to end stuff and rugged defending by Rovers saw them through. Thistle were the more polished team but Rovers played it more as a cup-tie.
