Thistle might have drawn against top of the league St Johnstone had their forwards been more effective. Miller made it 1-0 (14) but when a long shot came back off the bar, the rebound was tucked away (24). A snap shot at a goalmouth scramble gave Saints the lead at half-time. The game deteriorated with numerous fouls and few chancies at either end.
