A huge dollop of luck and controversy. The Fifers “scored“ but the ref gave a ludicrous off-side decision. Thistle broke and Elliott scored. A spilled save by Jackson was tapped goalwards but the ref blew for a penalty. He then changed his mind and a dropped ball led to a scramble. Jackson cleared, Ballantyne broke and crossed for Fraser to score. East Fife went down to 9 men then Rae cleared off the line late on.
