3rd placed Motherwell had no answer to mid-table Thistle's fast, direct play. Wayward shooting and an excellent keeper denied them a much bigger win. Ballantyne scored (9) with an overheard kick for 1-0 at half-time. A Torbet hat-trick and 2 from Simpson completed the rout. Thistle certainly capitalised on Motherwell's off-day. Motherwell scored at 4-0.
