Death of George Easton 1 Apr. Played at Firhill (fire damage at Celtic Pk). There was nothing between the teams but Celtic took the lead (15). Thistle were down to 10 men in the second half when Fraser was injured. Good Celtic defending, a clearance off the line and frittered chances. Unlucky.

● Although this is officially an away game in the record books, it was played at Firhill due to the fact that one side of Celtic Park had been ravaged by fire just a few days before. It was a very sad and strangely eerie week all in all.

● George Easton, an extraordinary club servant since the mid 1890s, passes away on the morning of this Easter Holiday match. The weather was reported as fine, but the mood was somewhat sombre by contrast. At Firhill, flags were flown at half-mast and the players of both sides wore black armlets as a mark of respect to the late manager.
