On a cold afternoon in Rothesay, the local boys put in a decent effort, but goals in each half from Lambie and Hair ensured Thistle were always in control. Jags paid their own fares and a healthy number of tickets sold ensured a decent cheque for the widow and family of the late Donald McPhail, a popular footballer who had played with Rothesay Royal Victoria and the Academicals.
