A good Hamilton side deservedly went 2-up inside half an hour then hit the post with a pen. Thistle pulled one back through a Blair penalty but the 2-goal lead was restored in the second half as Hamilton pressed. Late on Thistle's forwards finally combined and McMenemy scored (85) but it was never that close.
