A bright start saw Salisbury go close but when Bulloch was rounded, Bathgate took the lead with a “great shot” (SP). Lauder was fouled when he was closing in on the keeper and he levelled with the pen but it was 2-1 by half-time (best shot of the day). The Bathgate keeper was busy after half-time but Thistle couldn't find an equaliser.

Partick Thistle provided an attraction at Mill Park, Bathgate, yesterday. There was a record attendance. Play opened quietly. Five minutes after the start the visitors developed a fine attack. Salisbury had a sparkling run in but Hay cleared. Then, for Bathgate, Godfrey sent down strongly. Waugh fastened on the ball, and getting round Bulloch he beat Ferguson with a great shot. Partick came away strongly. Crayton, Robertson, Gray and Salisbury were working particularly well together. It was from the right wing, however, the equaliser came. Lauder, getting a fine cross, sprinted towards Wilkinson, and Black caught him up within the penalty area. From the penalty, Lauder scored. After three attempts, Whyte scored from the touchline. Half-time:- Bathgate, 2; Thistle, 1.

In the second half, the visitors worked very hard for the equaliser. Lauder and Salisbury did fine work, but Wilkinson saved all that came his way. An accident, fortunately not serious, led to Godfrey's retiring, but even this did not help the visitors, the Bathgate defence being great. Result:- Bathgate, 2; Partick Thistle, 1.
