The OH credits Willie Salisbury with Thistle's 4th (by process of elimination), but SC/SP/JL/DR all say that it was Jim Marshall sealing his hat-trick, so we go with them. OH's crediting Salisbury maybe from DR's confusing report (“a dream of a centre by Salisbury brought the fourth”) but the opening summary of that Saturday's matches further up the page credits Marshall with a hat-trick.

Marshall, big, strong and fast, gave Thistle the lead (10). Stewart saved a penalty but had to admit defeat just on half-time. A quick start to the second half saw Whittle and Marshall make it 3-1 then Marshall's hat-trick came with a header from a Salisbury cross. Falkirk (who played well) scored late on from the spot (trip).
