A tepid first half saw Saints lead 1-0 at half-time. Thistle pressed in the second half and hit the bar. Whittle scored from the spot then 3 minutes later a mistake let Bowie in for the winner close in. Later he clashed with the keeper and both were sent off. Saints hit the woodwork several times as Thistle clung on for a lucky win.
