The unrecognised “Ferguson” of Celtic is listed in inverted commas and is almost certainly a psuedonym for someone. Drawings £400 (GH) OH credits John King with Thistle's 2nd and 3rd but GH, SC and SC say it was William Allan, so we go with them. Re timings, GH reports that Thistle's third was in the last minute whilst the SC reports that there were 10 minutes left to play. We stick the GH for no other reason other than neatness, given that they have the time of the first goal too.

Steel outpaced a defender and scored almost from the corner flag (15). Celtic pressed then Allan scored on the counter. Celtic's rearranged attack caused problems in the second half but the defence stood firm. Allan scored (89) with a long shot from a breakaway for 3-0. Flattering and even more surprising.
