Top of the league Celtic were ultimately too good for Thistle but the defence did keep them at bay for most of the first half but it was 2-0 by half-time. Callaghan had a fine game after the break and Thistle went close several times and hit the post but Celtic scored again before Atkinson's consolation late on.
