Although weakened by injuries, Thistle had some shots saved then Rangers hit the post. They scored thanks to a misjudgement by Massey. Murray was injured and was a passenger and Rangers led 4-0 at half-time. He didn't reappear after half-time and the 10 men had no answer so it became a formality. Rangers even missed a penalty.
