notes
  • The GH lists “Howden Jr” as Thistle goalkeeper, suggesting a guest/trialist psuedonym. He's named as G. Anderson of Repton School in both the DDT and AN, but Graham Henderson (no mention of Repton School) in both the SR and DR. Somebody misheard and mistyped. We take the punt on Graham Henderson which gives us one less forename to worry about, if nothing else. We note that the DR also lists Milligan (not Donaldson) at #9.
  • QP left half John Dick got injured early and of Rockbank was allowed to come on as a replacement.
  • We select our goals sequence as per GH, although they only name the first 4 scorers. DR/GH/SC credit David Melville with Thistle's opener, so we're good there. The GH/SC say Donaldson got Thistle's second, but the DR says it was McCall. We stick with Donaldson per the GH/SC for that one on a 2:1 basis. The GH contend that Thistle's third was from a scrimmage, whilst the SC fails to identify the scorer (“a slip by one of the Queens halves gave Thistle the winning goal”). For this one, the DR actually names McCall as scoring his second of the game. On the basis that a named Thistle player is better than a scrimmage we credit Adam McCall as per the DR.
