Thistle's new faces were Arnott (Linthouse Juniors), Lawrie (Clydebank Juniors) and McGregor (Crieff Morrisonians). Not a dispute as such, but “Gregor” is listed at the SC and GH as Thistle scorer. Use of brackets in GH suggests guest player. JL specifically lists James McGregor signed from Crieff Morrisonians on the day of the match, so that's good enough for us. This would also tie in with the cautious “Gregor” as a top-secret trialist.

With an eye on the cup game with Celtic, Thistle had a mixture of reserves and guests playing. Even with the wind at their backs it was a poor showing and it was 3-0 at half-time. McGregor did make it 3-1 on his debut but 4th top Thistle were well beaten by 3rd top Third Lanark.
