Thistle attacked immediately and the keeper saved from Freebairn (twice) and Campbell. Blackwood made it 1-0 with a fine solo effort but it was 1-2 at half-time, Spence at fault for the first. Thistle had a good spell but Kilmarnock scored again and a breakaway made it 4-1. “At least two of their goals were gifts” (EEN).
