Thistle had numerous chances but regretted missing them when St Mirren opened the scoring from a scramble. They equalised before half-time through Paul but in the second half it was all the home team and they scored twice, a penalty making it 2-1. It was a surprisingly feisty friendly. St Mirren were too good on the day.

A friendly game was played between these clubs was played at Paisley on Saturday. Partick, playing with the wind, had many chances but allowed their opponents to score first from Owen. The strangers however, equalised before half-time from a shot by Paul. The second portion was entirely to the favour of St Mirren, who added another two goals – the first from a penalty kick taken by Steel and the second from Greenlees. Result – St Mirren, 3 goals; Partick, 1 goal.
