The first half-hour was even with shots at either end. After 20 minutes Lamont fell on a piece of glass and received a deep 3-inch cut. Down to 10 men, Thistle did well to hold Rangers to 1-0 at half-time but the disadvantage was too much as the game wore on and they scored at will after half-time including one pen.
