A long report in the GEP says John Proudfoot was still suspended so that would appear to account for him missing. The second-take for this tie, following Thistle's succesful protest. In a decision seen as petulant, Airdrie themselves protested before this game that five Thistle players were ineligible – the same grounds as the Thistle protest from the first game. The Airdrie protest was dismissed at the next SFA meeting. SC says it was 5-0, however there seems little doiubt about the 5-1 scoreline in the OH, as per the accounts in GH, GEP, CE and SR.

Appeal upheld. 2 goals by Paul (12 and 35) gave Thistle a half-time lead. Airdrie applied considerable pressure then Campbell made it 3 on the break and Wilkie make it 4-0 almost immediately. Airdrie scored when Conway (who had a brilliant save just before half-time) made the mess of a shot. Paul got his hat-trick (83).
