The champions were all over Thistle and they scored (5). Thistle missed a couple of good chances to level and by the end of the first half it was 5-0. Thistle managed one goal just after half-time (Paul) but it was all Hibs after that. Thistle finished their 1st season in the SFL a creditable 5th.

Much interest centred on this match at Partick. The Hibernians soon stormed the opposing goal. Several dangerous shots were saved by the Thistle goalkeeper. Five minutes after the start Murphy scored for the Hibernians. The home team missed two good chances. Murphy again registered for Edinburgh, a third being added in rapid succession. Just as the half-time whistle sounded the Hibernians scored, the game thus standing- Hibernian, five goals; Partick Thistle, nothing. On changing sides the Thistle made a desperate effort to better their position, and in the first five minutes scored their first goal. Play for some time was of a give and take character. A sixth was added by the Hibernians. The Thistle had now two good runs, but Donnelly’s vigilance prevented their taking effect. Edinburgh put on their seventh goal amid cheers. Result:- Hibernians, seven goals; Partick Thistle, one goal.
