In fine weather on the Perth holiday Monday, Thistle had it easy early on and took a 3-goal lead. City's forwards tried hard but made little impression. They went close just after half-time but Thistle made it 4-0. City “played up doggedly” (DC) and had the better of things after that, finished strongly and scored twice.

Yesterday at Perth, the Fair City had a holiday fixture with the Partick Thistle. The weather was splendid, and there was a large crowd. The City kicked off against a strong sun, and pressed. The Partick had some fine runs. They eventually scored after twenty minutes play. Play continued in favour of the Partick, the City rarely having a look in, and a second goal was soon added, which was shortly afterwards followed by a third. The City towards the end of the first half made several hard tries, but failed to score, and at half-time the Partick were leading by 3 goals. In the second half the City had exceedingly hard lines to start. The strangers scored a fourth point not long after the start. The City retaliated and scored their first point. They played up doggedly and Gardiner had a splendid run, ending it up with a goal for the City. They continued to have far the best of the game, and a hard game ended - Partick Thistle, 4; Fair City Athletic, 2.
