A good day's work in Paisley. After a goalless first half Abercorn took the lead. Paul levelled a minute later but straight from the restart it was 2-1. Abercorn had 2 goals disallowed before Paul scored again late on for 2-2 then he went one better with his hat-trick (87, his first in the SFL).

These teams met in a Second Division League fixture at Underwood Park, Paisley, before a fair turnout of spectators. The strangers kicked off against a pretty strong wind, but for the first ten minutes neither side could claim the advantage. Gaining a foul, the Partick eleven pressed in on McCann who for the next ten minutes had a lively time of it. The pressure was relieved in splendid style by Dunlop and Thomson, and the home forwards for some time afterwards gave Crozier, Robertson and Campbell a lot of work to do. Several corners fell to the home team, all of which however, proved abortive. The Thistle retaliated by a smart run, and Paul, Galloway, and Murray tried McCann with several swift shots. As half-time was drawing to a close both clubs strove hard to score. The backs of both teams defended well, and up to the interval nothing resulted.

The second half was started in a heavy shower of rain, and the ground club at once forced their opponents back on their own ground. After Munro had a couple of tries at Crozier, Millar centred grandly, and Wilson, lying handy, easily put the leather through. A minute later the game was made equal by Paul. From the centre kick the Abercorn again came away in great dash, and Struthers, from a fine pass from Munro, again put his team in the ascendency. A third point was scored a minute later from a foul, but was disallowed. Continuing this dash, they continually hemmed in their opponents, a fourth goal falling to their lot, but, to the chagrin of the players and spectators alike, was again disallowed. A few minutes from time the Thistle came away with a rush, and Paul again put the teams on level terms. Just before the whistle blew the Thistle were successful in putting on the winning point. The game thus ended:- Partick Thistle, three goals; Abercorn, 2 goals.
