Northern's first league win of the season. They belied their league position with some good play but Paul headed the opener just on half-time. After an early spell of pressure from Thistle, the home team equalised (70) and went on to take both points - “the excitement became intense” as the winner went in (GH).

Second division League match at Springburn. The home players lossed the toss and Proudfoot kicked off. The visitors at once asserted themselves, and for a short time kept Burnside and his backs busy. Getting clear, McBride made off up the left, but slipped when within shooting distance. Encouraged by this run, the Northern worked hard, and after a pretty bit of passing, Neaves sent the ball past. Play then became somewhat even, each side in turn traversing the field. A determined attack by the Springburn men was well checked by Campbell, who was in grand form. The first corner fell to the visitors shortly before half-time, but no advantage was gained by it. Just before the whistle blew the ball was passed over to Paul, who headed it through. Half-time result:- Partick Thistle, 1; Northern, 0. On restarting, the strangers again assumed the offensive and Buist and Sinclair had quite enough to do. A well-deserved goal was scored by Lamont after 25 minutes play, and then the excitement became intense as Fyfe secured the leading point for the Northern from a corner. After a fast and well-contested game, Northern retired with their first League victory, the result being- Northern, 2 goals, Partick Thistle, 1 goal.
