With the wind at their backs Thistle took the lead through Freebairn (10) and after long spells of pressure it was 2-0 just before half-time when Findlay scored. Against the wind it was a different story however and Wishaw had most of the play in the second half and ran out 3-2 winners.

At Wishaw. The home team kicked off against a strong wind, and for some time even play characterised the game. Partick opened the scoring, a point being taken by Freebairn ten minutes after the start. The visitors’ goal was repeatedly endangered but their defence was good. Before half-time Finlay scored for Partick, who crossed over with 2 goals to their credit. In the second half, with the wind in their favour, Wishaw had much the best of matters, and scored on three occasions, the result being- Wishaw, 3 goals; Partick, 2.
