A Freebairn header (20) put Thistle ahead but Morton drew level from a goalmouth scramble (43). Harvey gave Thistle the lead (46) but again Morton equalised “after repeated tries” (GT). After that it was mostly Thistle and Paul (2) and Bruce (“a nice shot”) made it a comfortable win. Up to 5th.

Played at Whiteinch. The Thistle won the toss and at once became dangerous, Paul sending in a beauty. Burns retaliated for the Morton, but his final effort was nullified by the home custodian. Both goalkeepers were frequently called upon. Twenty minutes from the start Freebairn secured the first goal for the Thistle. Just before the interval Morton scored through Norman. Half-time result:- One goal each. On resuming the Thistle got away and Harvey scored. The Morton then put on the pressure, the home saving well. Latterly, a shot from Garrity took effect. The Thistle again took the game in hand, and Paul found an opening. Bruce followed with a fourth, and Paul notched a fifth point. Result:- Partick Thistle, five goals; Morton, two goals.
