Thistle had a good opening spell but Robertson was soon in action. Northern scored but nearing half-time Freebairn headed in an Alder free-kick for 1-1. The second half was mostly Northern with a few sporadic Thistle forays up field. Gilchrist and Currie were both injured and Thistle's efforts were depleted.
