This match was played at Whiteinch. Cowlairs lost the toss, but soon made tracks for the home goal, Adams scoring after six minutes play. The Thistle now got in, and Stewart sent in a shot, which Gilchrist bustled through. Two minutes later Gilchrist gained a second point for the Thistle, and, thereafter, play became very fast, the ball travelling rapidly from goal to goal. At half-time the score stood:- Thistle, two goals; Cowlairs, 1 goal. On crossing over, Cowlairs quickly forced a corner. the Thistle got away, but could not sustain the attack. McPherson scored for Cowlairs from a free kick, while a third was rushed through. Shortly afterwards, Aitken gained a fourth. The Thistle then had an innings and Gilchrist scored again. Shortly before the finish, Lynch notched a fifth goal for Cowlairs. Result:- Cowlairs, five goals; Partick Thistle, three goals.
