Although simply named 'Logie Green' in contemporary reports, this ground has come to be known as 'New Logie Green' to keep its identity distinct from a ground that St Bernard's used in the 1880s called 'Powderhall' (occasionally/colloquially referred to as 'Logie Green' at the time) which was later renamed 'Heriot Cricket and Football Ground' in the 1890s. This distinct 'New Logie Green' existed from 1889 to 1899 and hosted the Scottish Cup final of 1896.

A bad day in the capital. St Bernard's (who finished 2nd) had a defender playing for Scotland but even so, they were too good for Thistle. Apart from an early spell of pressure they were hardly in the game as an attacking force. “With reverse after reverse they (Thistle) lost heart and broke up entirely” (EEN).

At Logie Green the St Bernard's inflicted a heavy defeat of seven goals to nil on the Partick Thistle, the match being the retunr in the Alliance series. The place of Foyer, who was assisting Scotland in defeating Wales, was ably filled by Walter Arnott of the Queen's Park; while MacDonald and Laverock played for Murdoch and Johnston. Though the home team showed the better play in the first half, the game during that period was well contested. The Glasgow forwards were unfortunate; but the Saints could not complain on that score, for they led by three goals at half-time, the points having been got by Scott, Laverock and Crossan. The second half witnessed one long series of attacks on the Thistle goal which fell in turn to Dobie, MacDonald, Laverock and Collins; while Crossan had another that was disallowed. Arnott, playing a game worthy of his best days; the play of McNab also excellent. Gilchrist was the best of the Thistle players.
