Thistle had an early scare when a Linthouse goal was ruled off-side. Currie opened the scoring but it was soon 1-1. He scored his 2nd after some sustained pressure but again Linthouse equalised. 3 quick goals by Murray and Paul (2) set up the win by half-time. Paul's shooting was “of a very high order” (GH).

At Inchview. Paul started the game for the Thistle. Linthouse, however, were first to assume the offensive but ere they could become dangerous, Campbell returned the ball. Linthouse again attacked and McNair scored, but off-side was claimed and granted. The Thistle now broke away and, after a splendid combined run, Currie scored the first goal of the game for the homesters. From the mid-field kick the Linthouse retaliated and Hurry succeeded in equalising matters. The Thistle then got away and for a time kept the Linthouse defence very busy. Leslie had several shots to save. Latterly, the ball was got past him, Currie again giving it the finishing touch. The Linthouse were soon down in the vicinity of Brown, and were not repulsed until T. Smith had scored.

With the scores equal, the Linthouse made strenuous efforts to obtain the lead, but the smartness of the home custodian prevented this, and with Paul gaining the ball, play was once more transferred to Linthouse territory. Several good shots were sent in but none of them took effect. The play at this time was very fast, and both goalkeepers were repeatedly called upon to save their charge from downfall. Shortly before the finish of the first half Murray gained a third point for the Thistle, and immediately afterwards Paul notched a fourth, which he followed very closely with a fifth, his shooting being of the very highest order. At half-time the Thistle led by 5 goals to 2 and as there was no scoring in the second half, the game ended in favour of the Thistle.
