Gilchrist, Paul and Harvey were best for Thistle. In contrast, “For the losers, the Vale outside-right was conspicuous - as a failure” (GEP).

This game on Saturday at Alexandria ended in a win for the Thistle by 3 goals to 1. The strangers scored their three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match, during which time they fairly walked around the Vale defence, due principally to clever passing. The Vale have been in better form this season, though their play deserved better success. Their only goal was taken at the commencement of the second half, and was the result of a dashing run by Tom Graham and his colleagues. Murray and the ex-Minerva lads put in a lot of work for the Thistle's front division, while Rodger at back kicked strong and sure. The best man in the Vale team was Jacky Nicol at centre-half, and who for tackling and shooting has seldom played a finer game. In present form, he is one of the best centre halves going.
