Eventually, Gilchrist sent the ball past him, and put the home team one up five minutes from the start. The same player, several minutes later, notched a second point for the Thistle, and Currie closely followed with a third. Airdrieonians now had a run and were not repulsed until Binnie had scored with a splendid shot. Play was fast, the Thistle however, were having the best of the attacks, and Gilchrist put them four up. The Airdrieonians gained a second point from the foot of King. Half-time score;- Partick Thistle, 5 goals; Airdrieonians, 2 goals. In the second half, the Thistle quickly gained a corner, which was cleared. Binnie and Russell got away to midfield, but were intercepted by Campbell, who returned strongly. A smart attack by the Thistle followed, and Connor was forced to save. A foul gave the Thistle men a chance, which was not utilised. The Thistle were bad to keep out, and for some time kept up a persistent attack. the result was:- Partick Thistle, 6 goals; Airdrieonians, 3 goals.
