Thistle's appeal (ineligible player on 29 October) was upheld. A header by Miller gave them the lead (10). Play raged from end to end for the rest of the match and the tie was keenly contested. Celtic got a late equaliser when a fine save by Brown was parried out and the tie went to a replay.

Played at Inchview Park, Whiteinch, before 4,000 spectators. The Partick Thistle lost the toss and kicked off against a slight breeze, Paul tipping the ball to Stewart who in turn passed to Murray. Clifford intercepted the ball however and then with a swinging kick the ball was transferred to the Thistle's territory. The Thistle retaliated and from a good return by Hodge, Miller headed the first goal for the home team ere the game was ten minutes old. Keeping up the pressure, the Thistle made matters warm for the Celtic custodian, but Cullen did his work well. The excitement was intense as Blessington and Davidson made tracks for Brown. They got well up the field ere they countered the ball, but Madden failed to take advantage of the chance, and Campbell cleared. Half-time result - Partick Thistle, 1 goal; Celtic, 0.

On resuming, the Celts started the ball. Paul caught up the pass and sent the ball over to Gilchrist. The latter shot but Dunbar headed out of danger. Towie opened out the game by passing on to Blessington. The ball travelled well into Thistle territory and Madden tried a shot, but Brown easily saved. The game was being hotly contested; each goal was assailed in turn. The Thistle were having the best of it, but they could not increase their score. Cullen conceded a corner, but Gilchrist sent the ball behind him. From the goal kick the Celtic carried the ball to Thistle territory, where Blessington, Davidson and Clifford each had a shot, but Brown coudl not be beaten. At last, however, the Celtic managed to equalise. Madden sent in a smart shot, which Brown as smartly returned, but Campbell getting the ball on his breast rushed it through. No further scoring took place. Final result:- Partick Thistle, 1 goal; Celtic, 1 goal.
