Motherwell hit the bar then Paul wasted a good chance before Thistle were pinned back and Motherwell scored (30). They scored again (long shot) but Thistle reacted positively and “played for all they were worth“ (GH). Paul (from a defensive blunder, 75) and Harvey (at a scrimmage, 84) earned the replay.

Played at Inchview before a good turnout of spectators. Motherwell lost the toss and kicked off against the wind. The game became very fast from the start, each goal being assailed in turn. Fully thirty minutes had gone when Steel scored the first goal for the Motherwell. Half-time result:- Motherwell, 1 goal, Partick Thistle, 0. The second half opened well for Motherwell. They pressed severely and after a determined effort Galloway score their second goal. Nettled at this additional reverse the Thistle played for all they were worth. At last their efforts were rewarded, and Paul scored their first goal. Keeping up the pressure, Harvey equalised before the close. This was all the scoring. Final result:- A draw - 2 goals each.
