Played at Braehead Park. The Partick Thistle, losing the toss, kicked off. The home halves, however, interposed and the forwards at once transferred the ball to the Partick end and the ball was sent past. From the goal kick, Stewart and Mulvey cleverly brought play in to the home end, the former sending in a swift low shot when Neil, trying to save his charge, sent the ball through his own goal. At this point, one of the Partick men had to retire having twisted his ankle. The home team continued to haver round the Partick goal, Allan at last equalising with a shot which Simpson had no chance of saving. The Partick team, notwithstanding the loss of one of their men, continued to play a clever game and from a run in which the whole of the forwards took a part, Murray added a second goal for his side. Five minutes later, Cunningham equalised. Half-time result:- Thistle, 2 goals; Partick Thistle, 2 goals. On resuming, the home team at once started for the other end, a smart shot going in from the right. Simpson, however, saved cleverly. Good play from the home forwards again brought them in front of the Partick goal, and again Simpson saved. For the next ten minutes, the home team had all the play, Hannah scoring a third goal for his side. Keeping up the pressure, the home side added a fourth goal. Nothing daunted at these reverses, the Partick men continued to show some fine play, and on more than one occasion had hard lines in not increasing their score. Two more goals were scored in quick succession from the home team. Result:- Thistle, 6 goals; Partick Thistle, 2 goals.
