After some even exchanges early on, Donnelly “cleverly scored” (GH) to take the lead (15). Thistle held the upper hand and Bruce scored soon after with a long shot. “The second half was resumed with vigour” and Currie added a 3rd before Johnstone pulled one back after “a combined run”.

Played at Inchview Park, Whiteinch. There was a fair attendance of spectators. Losing the toss, the Johnstone kicked off. They were first to press but John McMoreland relieved. Even play followed. After 15 minutes had gone, Donnelly cleverly scored the first goal for the Thistle. The home men continued to have the best of it, and Bruce added a second goal with a long shot. Half-time result:-Partick Thistle, 2 goals; Johnstone 0. The second half was resumed with vigour. Currie put on a third goal for the Thistle. By a combined run Laird was enabled to shoot the first and what proved to be the only goal for the Johnstone. Final result:-Partick Thistle, 3 goals; Johnstone, 1 goal.
