Although simply named 'Logie Green' in contemporary reports, this ground has come to be known as 'New Logie Green' to keep its identity distinct from a ground that St Bernard's used in the 1880s called 'Powderhall' (occasionally/colloquially referred to as 'Logie Green' at the time) which was later renamed 'Heriot Cricket and Football Ground' in the 1890s. This distinct 'New Logie Green' existed from 1889 to 1899 and hosted the Scottish Cup final of 1896. OH/HA list a 2-3 defeat here although this was reported as a 1-3 loss in the AFS annual for 1891-92 and in the match reports in SC/SR, so there is little doubt about it.

“A hard fought game“. St Bernard's took the lead with a shot from a parried save. It was 1-0 at half-time but Thistle were by no means out of it. Full-back Campbell came close with a brilliant shot. It was soon 2 then 3-0 however. Proudfoot (L) scored near the end charging the keeper and ball into goal. “Generally uninteresting“ (SR).

At Logie Green in the Alliance Championship series, the St Bernards defeated the Partick Thistle, before a fairly good attendance, by three goals to one. The game was characterised more by its hard fought and evenly contested nature, than by the brilliancy of the football exhibited. The St Bernards played without Christie whose place was taken by an indifferent player, Young.

Sutherland opened the game for the home team and G. MacDonald at once sent the ball over the line. Young just after sent in a good shot from the corner, but Campbell relieved by giving the ball to Miller, who evaded Foyer and made straight for Baillie. He centred finely, to see the ball put very wide of the mark. This early attack spurred the home team to action and a neat and judicious pass by Sutherland to MacDonald was splendidly taken by the little man. This was smartly turned aside by Marshall, and Miller again made off, causing Foyers to kick out. Phillip subsequently gave a corner, but Baillie saw the ball pass safely outside. At last Foyers, in relieving, ran the ball down and passed to Sutherland. The latter had a good chance and shot well, but Marshall turned the ball aside, and it went to MacDonald. The right winger was on the spot and making no mistake, he sent the ball clear through. A grand chance was thrown away by Scott just after. The Thistle once more made up the field in a body, and another corner had to be conceded. This brought no fruit, and a corner to the home team at the other end went with a like issue. Meantime, Baillie was not alone, and it was with some difficulty that he saved on his knees a good attempt by L. Proudfoot. The Thistle made a good show up to half-time when the score was:- St Bernards, one goal; Partick Thistle, nil.

A foul and subsequently a corner got the home team around Marshall at the very outset of the second portion. Again the home team were dangerous by McNab and were presented with a few bright chances until Sutherland, with his head, put the ball over. Hereafter, the Thistle opened up a most determined and consistent attack, and Campbell, the back, almost scored by a lengthy and brilliant shot. Baillie managed to relieve the pressure, and gave the ball to Frank Scott, who got fairly away. The ball was passed to J. MacDonald who returned it to his partner, and in a minute it was through - a somewhat lucky goal. The western men were by no means disheartened at this, and again resumed the attack. Then J. MacDonald and Scott ran the length of the field, finishing up by a pass to Robertson. The latter as neatly returned the ball to Scott's head, from which it glanced through, and the Saints were put three up. A foul against the Thistle close in, looked well for the Saints but it was not to be and L. Proudfoot, getting the ball at the other end, put it into goa, where Foyers was charged through with the ball in saving.
