The SR report contends that Shire's goalie was “Burden” but FH backs up Hunter. Overall, the OH says Miller (2), Fleming, Friel and L. Proudfoot scored for Thistle, but we haven't found such a combination. Indeed, we've found no one paper naming all 5 scorers. We've decided to largely stick with the provider of our teamlines (GH) who name 3 of the scorers. First goal: GEP says Friel, GH says Fleming, FH says Bennett. We stick with Fleming and this is ticks off one of the OH. Second goal: GH says Friel, FH says Fleming. We stick with Friel and, again, this is ticks off one of the OH. Third goal: GH says scrimmage, FH suggests Paul. We therefore go with Paul, as it's better than nothing. Fourth goal: Both GH and FH agree with Miller, and this ticks off a third from the OH. Fifth goal: No press reports that we've seen commit to naming a scorer. With 2 left to be ticked off from the OH (Miller and Proudfoot) we take a punt on Lawrence Proudfoot since he's the only 1 of the 4 not to be credited so far. This is obviously a far from ideal analysis, but it's the best we can come up with in the circumstances, for now at least. In terms of the scoreline, the EC reports 7-0 but is best ignored as it stands alone in comparison with all other contemporary press.

Shire were unfortunate that they were playing several fringe players. Fleming opened the scoring then Friel doubled the lead. Paul made it 3 by half-time. Shire fought on, had a few chances and contained Thistle until Miller scored. A late 5th (Proudfoot) made for a big win. “East Stirlingshire suffered rather severely” (DET).

Played at Inchview Park, Whiteinch, before a fair attendance of spectators. Losing the toss, Rae kicked off for East Stirlingshire. For the first few minutes of the game play was of a give-and-take nature, each goal being visited in turn. Then the Thistle obtained the first goal from the foot of Fleming. Shortly after, Friel scored a second goal for the home team. The Thistle again attacked and, from a scrimmage, obtained a third goal. The Stirlingshire tried hard to score but they could not find an opening. Half-time result:- Partick Thistle, 3 goals; East Stirlingshire, 0 goals. The second half was evenly and stubbornly contested. No scoring took place till near the close, whne Miller scored a fourth goal for the Thistle with a good shot. Just before time the Thistle put on a fifth goal. The East Stirlingshire failed to put on a point. Final result:- Partick Thistle, 5 goals; East Stirlingshire, 0 goals.
