The OH (by process of elimination) credits Lawrence Proudfoot with Thistle's second goal, and this is backed up by the GH. The EC, however, gives it to James Miller, but we've dismissed that report as being unreliable, due to their handling of the third goal. They credit “Hyslop” with the third, even though they don't have him in their teamline (their teamline concurs with the GH/OH albeit in a different order). For the third goal we are therefore obliged to stick with John Gilchrist as per OH/GH/SR. IH later confirmed our deduced scorers were correct.

An exciting game from the start with chances at both ends then Thistle took the lead thanks to a good move up the wing resulting in an OG from the Kilmarnock left-back but it was 1-1 at half-time. Just after the break Proudfoot (L) headed the 2nd and Gilchrist got a 3rd. Near the end Kilmarnock scored again.

Played at Inchview Park, Whiteinch, before a fair turnout of spectators. The Kilmarnock kicked off. The game at once became exciting, each goal being assailed in turn. Neither side could find an opening, however. Ultimately, the Thistle's left wing had a smart run, and, in trying to save, Orr kicked the ball through his own goal, thus making the first point for the Thistle. The Kilmarnock succeeded in equalising just before the whistle sounded, Kelvin doing the needful. Half-time result:- Partick Thistle, 1 goal; Kilmarnock, 1 goal. A few minutes after re-starting, L. Proudfoot headed a second goal for the Thistle. Gilchrist scored a third goal for the Thistle. Towards the close the Kilmarnock obtained a second goal, Kelvin again doing the needful. This was all the scoring. Final result:- Partick Thistle, 3 goals; Kilmarnock, 2 goals.
