Advertised for 1.00pm, but 30 minutes late in kicking-off. OH says Watty Keay scored for Thistle. Although the OH team-line and crowd seems to match the GH, that paper doesn't list Thistle's scorer. SC report says it was J. Woods and we go with them. The SC is a little vague with Rangers second goal, saying that it came from a scrimmage, but that “Kerr showed to great advantage”. The EC says it was Muir and we go with them for that one.

McCorkindale had “thrown in his lot with the Clyde” (GH) and Burness played his only game for the club. After chances at either end were missed Rangers scored from a scramble “amidst intense cheering” but Woods equalised on half-time. Rangers were superior after that and scored twice more.

Played at Ibrox Park, Govan, before 1,000 spectators. The Thistle were without McCorkindale, their smart custodian, who is said to have thrown in his lot with the Clyde. Burns [note: History Book / Glasgow Herald say “Burness“], the substitute was early called upon, but he cleared in good style. The game then opened up, and before the interval the Rangers scored out of a scrimmage, while Woods put on a point for the Partick men. On resuming, the Rangers were early dangerous, but Proudfoot, who throughout played a grand game, relieved. The Rangers afterwards gained a second point out of a scrimmage, Kerr showing it to great advantage. The home team were having the best of it, and tried the Thistle defence sorely. Latterly, Henderson notched a third point for the Rangers. Result:- Rangers, three goals; Partick Thistle, one goal.
