Play was end to end then just before half-time the visitor's goalkeeper fisted out a shot by Keay and Bennett headed a second. A “vigorously contested“ second half saw Port score once and have one disallowed.

Played at Inchview Park, Whiteinch. The Thistle kicked off and, five minutes after the start, Gilchrist scored their first goal with a swift shot. The Port retaliated and had a try but McCorkindale saved cleverly. The game became very even, each side having several runs. Neither could increase their score till near half-time, when the Thistle again broke away, and Keay shot. Connell fisted out, but Bennett, who was lying close in, headed the ball through. Half-time result:- Partick Thistle, 2 goals; Port Glasgow Athletic, 0. The second half was vigorously contested. After some fast play on both sides, Connelly scored for the Port with a high shot. Each team strove their utmost after this to improve their position, but no further scoring took place. Final result:- Partick Thistle, 2 goals; Port Glasgow Athletic, 1 goal.
