Thistle (showing several changes) took the lead (1) when a shot from the wing hit off a defender's back and went in. The roof fell in and it was 3-1 at half-time. Thistle lost Martyn to injury just after the restart but even so, there was little doubt Airdrie were the better team. They scored 2 more against the 10 men for a convincing win.

At Airdrie. The Thistle scored within a minute of the start, the ball going through off one of their own men. Thereafter, Walkinshaw, Binnie and Caldow scored for the Airdrieonians, the game standing three to one in their favour at half-time. The game ended in a win for the Airdrieonians by five goals to one.
