Thistle were awarded their first ever penalty (which was missed by Cameron at 0-0). All 5 forwards scored. Paul scored from a corner and it was 1-0 at the break. Goals in quick succession from Woods, McCombie, Gilchrist and Davie sealed the emphatic win in a one-sided match.

At Inchview these teams met to play off their undecided tie in the Glasgow Cup competition. At the previous meeting a fortnight ago at Cathcart the game ended in a draw. Garey started play for Cathcart and Paul, gaining the ball, put in a run, but was repulsed by Gillespie. After the Cathcart had made an unsuccessful attack on the Thistle goal, Gilchrist and Woods got away, the latter passing into goal. Paul forced a corner but nothing came of it. Cathcart then had an innings but when looking dangerous were repulsed by Campbell. Paul and Davie now broke away, but the ball was sent past. By neat passing, Cathcart transferred play to Thistle territory and McCorkindale and his backs were kept busy for a time.

For an infringement, a penalty kick was awarded the home team. Cameron took the kick, but the visitors custodian saved his charge. The Thistle again returned to the attack and severely tested the Cathcart defence. After a run by Cathcart the ball was worked back to the visitors' territory. Latterly, a corner was conceded. The ball was well placed by McCombie and Paul succeeded in scoring the first goal for his team. Shortly afterwards half-time was called, the game standing - Partick Thistle, 1 goal; Cathcart, 0.

The Thistle re-opened play and after several runs by both teams got dangerously close to McCorquodale and Woods, accepting a pass from Paul, put the Partick club 2 points up. Scarcely had play been resumed when the home forwards came away in fine style, and Gilchrist notched a third goal. The home team were now having the best of matters, and five minutes later McCombie raised their total to 4. Davie added a fifth goal, and the visitors being unable to score the game ended - Partick Thistle, 5 goals; Cathcart, 0 goals.
