Play was even for a while then Keay opened for Thistle on the counter (20). Morton equalised (30) to make it 1-1 at half-time. Thistle had a good spell of pressure but it was Morton who scored from a disputed free-kick. Paul and Davies were prominent but Thistle couldn't find the equaliser their play deserved.

This Alliance match was played at Whiteinch before 1,000 spectators. The Thistle started play, but for some time neither side had any advantage. After twenty minutes play, Keay scored for the Thistle. Joyce equalised for Morton. Half-time - one goal each. On resuming, the Thistle at once raised the siege, and McLellan had to be very active to save his charge from downfall. Open play followed, the Thistle showing best. A foul gave Morton a second point. The game now became very fast, the Morton defence shining. Towards the close the greatest excitement prevailed, the Thistle pressing hard; but they could not beat McLellan. Result:- Morton, two goals; Partick Thistle, one goal.
