With Paul playing (and scoring) for Scotland v Wales, Thistle scored 5 without him. Morton forced the early pace but the Thistle defence was in fine form. Clark and Proudfoot scored but by half-time it was 2-2. However, three more goals in the second half made it a comfortable win.

These club teams faced each other at Inchview, Partick. Morton was in full strength, the home team being weak by reason of unavoidable causes. From the start the Morton forced the pace, but they were quickly repulsed. The Thistle backs being in fine array, they defended neatly for a time. Morton from good work had a corner, which came to nothing however. Clark, for the Thistle, put on the first point; Proudfoot following with a second. By half-time Morton had equalised. In the second half Thistle scored thrice, Morton adding one. Final score:– Thistle, five; Morton, three.
