notes
  • APJ (6th January 1890) lists “Hill” (presumably Hugh Hill) and “C. Proudfoot” (no such person to our knowledge presumably William Proudfoot as per the rest of the New Year tour) at the expense of “David Hislop” and “Walter McLean” as per the OH.
  • There's doubt over who scored Thistle's third. The AFP reports that “a miskick by A. Wood enabled Paul to notch a third point for the Thistle” whereas the APJ writes that “from a good run up the field by Drummond, Hill added a third goal for the strangers”. They don't even sound like they're describing the same goal! We've checked several papers and, unfortunately, these are the only sources quoting Thistle scorers. It's not ideal, but we've opted for the AFP account since it names 5 scorers as opposed to 4 in the APJ. OH offers no scorers at all.
