The OH (by process of elimination) suggests that it was Willie Paul who scored Thistle's 4th, but both the EC and the CE say it was David Hislop. The full report in the latter has all scorers with sequence and is the most compelling, stating “Hislop again doing the needful”.

Rovers took an early lead with a free-kick but Johnston equalised with “a splendid shot” (GH) then Drummond added a 2nd a few minutes later. Hislop scored just on half-time. Rovers “scored” but it was off-side. Hislop scored again and continuous pressure by Rovers made it 4-2. It was exciting play right to the final whistle.
